Sky, Land & Seascape Programme
The Sky, Land and Seascape Programme is a structured course capturing the beauty of painting nature from both inside the studio and out in the open air. Complete beginners are welcome as full tuition is given at all levels of ability.
The programme is split into three stages. Beginner, Intermediate and Further Studies. The beginner and intermediate stages each have four modules. When these two stages have been completed you will be able to progress onto further more complex studies. Each stage will build your artistic abilities giving you the skills you need to paint to a high standard.
The beginner stage is designed to take you from a novice with no experience to a competent amateur and to prepare you for the intermediate stage ahead. Each step of the way you will be supported and tutored by a skilled artist, incorporating live demonstrations and a high degree of one on one tuition.

This curriculum can be studied over two years (1 day week). The focus is on the introduction of Imprimatura, Chiaroscuro and Alla Prima oil painting techniques. Whilst this is a studio based course, we also encourage students interested in this subject to also look at our En Plein Air (painting live on location) masterclasses.
This course focuses on practical paintings techniques and covers some basic theory. Understanding the harmonics within composition along with the colour relationships of tone, hue and chroma is essential knowledge to all artists.
You will be shown proportion, line and mass in oil painting along with techniques in mapping out, working from photographs, layering, glazing and vanishing are all covered over this programme. We use a series of set painting projects each with step by step guidance.
The whole programme is centred around classical oil painting techniques as we explore different elements within sky, sea and landscape painting. This will include lighting, warm and cool colour palettes, sunsets, storms, trees, hills, mountains, rocks, beaches, bushes, ponds, buildings and much more.
