GOT TO OUR FACEBOOK AND INSTAGRAM ACCOUNTS FOR VIDEO STUDENT TESTIMONIALS
Our programme is designed to support students in developing and pushing their technical ability beyond perceived ideas of what they can achieve. We wish to nurture the confidence necessary to be a professional painter or a content amateur by teaching students with classical techniques that are as essential today as they were hundreds of years ago. We love this quote by the acclaimed painter Ramiro Sanchez: “When in front of a blank canvas, I’d never say how I am going to do this but rather concentrate on what I want to say and follow my inspiration.” This is the freedom that we feel comes from developing your technical skills.
In our Atelier, students work under controlled ‘daylight’ conditions to produce high-quality portraiture, still life and classical cast studies. In addition, our Landscape and Seascape students paint en plein air (in open air) and work on some carefully selected photographic studies.
Here are some of the reasons our Atelier provides a successful learning experience:
A focus on teaching classical principles of proportion, line and mass along with composition.
Demonstrating and teaching true pigment based colour theory.
Careful development of masterful painting and drawing techniques.
Giving students time to allow their visual awareness to blossom.
Small group guidance enabling the possibility of achieving a high level of skill.
A mutually supportive community of students.
Nurturing a deep satisfaction in your personal achievement.
Support to produce and sell your own work.
