NEW: Still Life For Improvers - with Andrew Hitchcock
Dates: 17th, 18th & 19th April 2020 (£330)
Andrew has exhibited with Royal Society of Portrait Painters, the Pastel Society, the ROI, the NEAC, the Lynn Painter-stainers and the RBA when he won the Gordon Hulson Memorial Prize.
He studied drawing and painting at the London Atelier of Representational Art (LARA). He studied under Anastasia Pollard, Luca Indraccolo and Giles Lester and currently teaches primarily in London. In addition to portraiture, he has a passion is still life. Working from observation and imagination, draughtsmanship and Impressionism are at the centre of his artistic expression. A variety of different paint applications with brushes and painting knives are made use of in an exploration of the observed and experienced world.
This is a small class with only six student spaces available. This is a great opportunity for those wishing to experience Andrews style and take their still life to the next level. Over three days you will complete one or two small compositional/colour studies concentrating on the simplification of colour and tone to create a natural impression of light and space.
These smaller studies will prepare you for a larger painting with lots of time for the exploration of narrative, composition, shapes, texture and paint handling techniques.
Andrew will both demonstrate painting throughout the class and nature your freedom to develop your own aesthetic style. Includes lunch. Materials not included.
This course has a residential option. The cost includes the course and three nights accommodation with breakfast for £510. This accommodation is within our lovely Edwardian Guesthouse (studio onsite, same building). If you would like to see our accommodation please click here.
